Parent Justice and Spirituality Network

St Kevin’s College (Melbourne) has recently begun a Parent Justice and Spirituality Network.

For the Blessed Edmund Rice Feast Day over 50 parents gathered at the Waterford Campus to explore how they can get involved in justice and spirituality activities both locally and globally. As well as the opportunity to become involved in community action, a reflective gathering will be held each term that will allow participants to reflect on this service in the context of faith.

Parents will have the opportunity to participate in the following community activities:

  • Visiting and building solidarity with Asylum Seekers at Melbourne Detention Centres
  • Volunteering at the Richmond Food Bank at St Ignatius Catholic Parish
  • Tutoring at the Melbourne Indigenous Transition School (MITS)
  • Joining an Advocacy Group that advocates for just causes, based on Catholic Social Teaching
  • Providing bikes for the developing world through Bikes for Humanity
  • Supporting Edmund Rice Camps for marginalised young people
  • Joining the Zimile Foundation, a St Kevin’s initiative that supports the work of the Christian Brothers and Edmund Rice Foundation in East Africa
  • Reflective spaces for those involved in justice and outreach activities, drawing on the Catholic tradition.
