Guide to Formation, Leadership, Immersion, Professional Development and Networking Opportunities.
Dear staff and friends of EREA, 2017 marks the 10th anniversary of EREA, 10 years of endeavouring to offer a liberating education, based on a gospel spirituality, within an inclusive community committed to justice and solidarity.
In striving to provide such an education, we might consider EREA to be a national community in mission – a community energised by many and varied relationships committed to a common vision. The opportunities offered to come together to understand and shape this mission is the essence of Full of Life. Perhaps what is most important is the way we enter into these opportunities and see them as moments filled with the potential for transformation so that the way we think and see the world embodies what it means to bring the Gospel alive for today.
For it is the way in which we encounter each other and our founding stories that will shape the mission we offer.
May the conversations and experiences that lie before us give fullness to a way of life where everything is included. As Pope Francis reminds us:
‘Where does Jesus send us? There are no borders, no limits; he sends us to everyone. The Gospel is for everyone, not just for some… Do not be afraid to go and to bring Christ into every area of life, to the fringes of society, even to those who seem farthest away, most indifferent’ (XXVIII World Youth Day, Rio de Janeiro, 28 July 2013)
In daring to follow the way of Jesus, we follow the pattern of Edmund’s response to the presence of Christ in those we encounter. In living this call today, may we be open to also develop habits of the heart that recognise our emerging sense "…that everything is interconnected and that genuine care for our own lives and our relationships with nature is inseparable from fraternity, justice and faithfulness to others.” (Pope Francis, Laudato si’: On Care for Our Common Home, 70).
In addition to the offerings outlined in this document, it is anticipated that throughout 2017, schools and communities across the EREA Network will have the opportunity to engage with the work of several Working Groups that were convened in 2016.
