EREA congratulates those recently appointed to senior positions and wishes them well as they embark upon the next exciting phase of their professional journey.
It is with much pleasure that I announce that Mr Ivan Mahoney has been appointed to the position of Co-Principal of the Youth+ South East Flexi Schools Network for 2018 and 2019. This is a fixed term appointment to deal with the complexities of the South East Network as it moves to the likely separation into two distinct networks from 2020 as new schools are developed in the region during 2018 and 2019. In this role, Ivan will share responsibilities within the network with the other Co-Principal, Chloe Hand. He will be located in NSW to be first point of contact for NSW schools while carrying out network wide responsibilities across NSW, Victoria and Tasmania.
Ivan is an accomplished teacher with a rich experience in leadership in flexible learning and particularly in Youth+. He was the inaugural Head of Campus of the St Marys Flexible Learning Centre in NSW before moving to be Campus Principal of the St Joseph’s Flexible Learning Centre in North Melbourne, our biggest FLC with over 300 young people.
During the first three terms of 2017, Ivan has been Acting Network Principal of the South East Network while Chloe has been on maternity leave.
Ivan has a Bachelor of Arts, a Master of Arts in Youth and Community Studies and Graduate Diplomas in Secondary Education, Science and Human Services Management. He has worked in Australia and Ireland in service areas within crisis management, homelessness, youth and community development, youth residential provision and street outreach.
On behalf of all members of the Edmund Rice Education Australia community, I warmly congratulate Ivan on this significant appointment.
