On behalf of the EREA Sustainability Committee, it is with much excitement and anticipation that we announce the Sustainability at EREA initiative – our response to Pope Francis’ urgent invitation to come together and care for our common home.

As we look to the horizon, our hope is that our journey home is one that we walk together, a path paved through collective inquiry and collaboration for an emerging future that recognises and enables fullness of life for all people and all of creation.

To launch Sustainability at EREA, we are hosting a Storytelling Campaign and call on all schools to participate by sharing your story of advocacy. Sharing your story will initiate our coming together to learn and co-create a path of care for our common home. Your own Storytelling Toolkit has all you need to help get your story together.

Also, as part of the Sustainability at EREA announcement package, we are including a set of narrative posters, a Storytelling Campaign Outline for teachers and students and a set of picture cards that can be used as a resource to reconnect to Laudato si’ and energise our response.

With a harvest of stories gathered, we will then set course for Canberra where the National Gathering for Sustainability (June 1) and the EREA National Principals Conference (May 31-June 2) will be held, side by side, providing an opportunity for our network to discern how we might come together and care for our common home.

So join us, as we shape our response to Pope Francis’ call to every person living on this precious planet to care for our common home. We pray that it might transform us to live Jesus in our hearts, forever.
